The Australian police uncovered the mystery of the disappearance of the Egyptian husband Mamdouh Nofal, 62 years old, and charged his wife Nermeen with murder, alleging that she butchered her husband Nofal in their home and then dismembered his body with an electric saw.
In a crime that shook the Australian community, an Egyptian woman faces charges of killing and dismembering her husband after discovering his infidelity.
Last Saturday, October 5, the Australian police revealed the mystery of the disappearance of the Egyptian husband Mamdouh Nofal, 62 years old, and charged his wife Nermeen, 52 years old, alleging that she butchered her husband Nofal in their home in "Greenacre, west of Sydney," then dismembered his body with an electric saw and placed it in separate plastic bags, disposing of them in several garbage bins in industrial areas throughout southwestern Sydney.
Impersonation of the Husband
The murderous wife then impersonated her husband, taking over his phone and social media accounts. For this reason, it took months for his family in Egypt and friends in Australia to realize he was missing. The police alleged that the murderous wife traveled to Egypt and sold properties in preparation for her escape from Australia, according to the British newspaper "Daily Mail."
According to the newspaper, one investigator described the crime as one of the "strangest" cases witnessed by the Australian police.
The New South Wales police charged the Egyptian woman Nermeen Nofal (53 years old) with deliberately killing and dismembering her husband Mamdouh Nofal’s body last year.
The crime took place in their family home where they had lived for over 10 years, and the incident is being treated as a "domestic violence murder."
The police stated that the investigation into the man's disappearance began in July 2023 when family friends reported him missing, and the police were called to his home on Juniper Parade in Greenacre, west of Sydney, after he had been missing since May.
Mistress in Egypt
According to the police, a violent argument erupted between the couple after Nermeen discovered her husband’s relationship with another woman abroad. Nermeen contacted the alleged mistress in Egypt and demanded the return of the money her husband had sent.
Subsequently, Nermeen allegedly dismembered his body using an electric saw and knives, then distributed body parts in plastic bags and disposed of them in various residential and industrial locations southwest of Sydney.
Investigation team leader Danny Doherty revealed in a press conference that the house where the crime occurred underwent extensive cleaning, and parts of the floor had been replaced.
Doherty also clarified that the police doubt they will be able to find any remains of the body due to the manner in which it was disposed of.
Who is Nermeen Nofal?
Nermeen Nofal had held the position of director at "We Care" for elder care and individuals with disabilities, a family-owned institution based in Blumer.
She participated in many charitable events to raise awareness about job opportunities for women in this field. However, shortly after her husband’s disappearance, Nermeen stepped down from managing the company and handed it over to a family member.
It is worth mentioning that the couple has eight adult children and had moved from Egypt to Sydney over 30 years ago, residing in their home in "Greenacre" for nearly 10 years.
Nermeen remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Burwood Local Court in December 2024.
