The U.S. Department of Defense (the Pentagon) announced the deployment of 3,000 additional troops to the border with Mexico, as part of efforts to enhance security measures and address the influx of migrants.
American officials confirmed that this move comes in response to the increased attempts at irregular crossings, and to provide support to border patrol forces in monitoring and logistics operations, without direct participation in law enforcement activities.
