Calgary - The new federal government led by Prime Minister Mark Carney has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating approvals for major projects in both traditional and renewable energy sectors, as part of a plan aimed at establishing Canada as a "global energy superpower."

This announcement came after a meeting where the Prime Minister gathered with several leaders from the energy industry in Calgary, representing a wide spectrum of clean and traditional energy producers, where both parties discussed ways to expedite vital projects and overcome regulatory obstacles to investment in energy infrastructure.

Carney stated in a statement released following the meeting: "Canada is ready to move forward. We met today with leaders in the clean and traditional energy sector, and there was a clear consensus: It's time to build."

This statement is part of a comprehensive government approach to reinvigorate investment in national energy projects, with a focus on achieving a balance between economic growth, emission reduction goals, and securing energy needs both domestically and internationally.

Carney previously indicated that his government would adopt a "one review for each project" approach with a timeframe of no more than two years, which would accelerate the implementation of vital infrastructure projects, including carbon capture facilities, export pipelines, and renewable energy plants.
