The Irish Prime Minister, Simon Harris, strongly condemned what he described as "the ongoing slaughter of children and innocent civilians" in the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that what is happening represents a humanitarian tragedy that cannot be ignored by the international community.
In sharp statements during a session of the Irish Parliament, Harris said: "What is happening in Gaza is not just a conflict, but a moral and humanitarian disaster. Children are being killed, families are being displaced, and hospitals are being bombed. We cannot remain idle."
Harris called for an immediate ceasefire and for the protection of civilians under international humanitarian law, reiterating his country's support for a two-state solution, and urging the international community to exert real pressure to end the violence and ensure unobstructed access to humanitarian aid.
The Prime Minister confirmed that Ireland will continue to raise its voice in international forums, calling for joint action within the European Union and the United Nations to hold those who violate human rights in Gaza accountable.
Harris's statements come at a time when European and international condemnations of Israeli military operations are on the rise, amid increasing reports of the worsening humanitarian situation in the area and rising casualty numbers, particularly among women and children.
