A report by Statistics Canada showed a decline in the rates of Canadians working from home over the past three years.
The report indicated that 18.7% of employees mostly worked from home in May 2024, the latest month for which data is available, down from a peak rate of 24.3% in May 2021.
The rate has decreased annually with each year since the pandemic, although a doubled number of people are still working remotely this year compared to last year.
The report compares previous rates with current figures from 2016, when only 7.1% of workers were at home.
The percentage of people working remotely this year has also declined in Quebec, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, but has increased in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
Ontario has the highest percentage of remote workers at 21.7%, while Saskatchewan ranks at the bottom with 10.1%, according to the report.
