In response to U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to impose tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China, Energy Minister Jonathan Wilkinson stated, "We are ready to fight for Canadians."
The White House had announced that President Trump signed executive orders imposing tariffs on these three countries.
Earlier, Trump announced his intention to impose tariffs of 25% on imports from Mexico and Canada, and 10% on products coming from China, justifying this as a measure to combat drug smuggling and illegal immigration.
In response, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced tariffs on $155 billion worth of U.S. imports, stating that these tariffs will come into effect starting next Tuesday.
Trudeau added that these tariffs will cover a wide range of everyday goods and consumer products, in addition to materials such as lumber and plastics.
