The New York Times: Private security companies manage a strategic checkpoint in northern Gaza

The "New York Times" reported that private security companies, including an American company called "Safe Reach Solutions," will oversee a key checkpoint on the road leading to northern Gaza, as the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area approaches. The task of these companies will focus on inspecting vehicles transporting Palestinians from the southern sector, while returning residents on foot will be allowed to pass without inspection, according to the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

Contractors are set to begin their vehicle inspection duties heading north starting Saturday. "Safe Reach Solutions" will oversee the operational management of the crossings, while two other companies, one American and the other Egyptian, will handle the actual inspections.

This step aims to support the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, which includes the withdrawal of Israeli forces from densely populated areas in the sector during a first phase lasting 42 days. Israeli officials hope that the security contractors will form the nucleus of a larger international force, supported by Gulf countries such as Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, to manage Gaza in the future.

So far, Gulf countries have not participated in this initiative, and it is still unclear who will fund the deployment of security contractors. This development comes as part of the efforts to ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and to promote stability in the region.
