Four companies in Montreal were targeted in a series of arson attacks overnight.
Montreal police said the first attack occurred before 2 a.m. on Tuesday in Rivière des Prairies.
The spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department, Jean-Pierre Brabant, continued that someone smashed the window of a store on Maurice Duplessis Street and ignited an incendiary device inside.
Two more attacks occurred on two restaurants in the Saint-Laurent neighborhood between 2:20 a.m. and 2:40 a.m.
Brabant added that an hour later, a beauty salon on Monkland Street in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce neighborhood was also set on fire, and the damage to the salon was more severe.
He continued, “An incendiary device was thrown inside a store, causing it to catch fire, so we are talking about serious damage to this business. Evacuations had to be carried out during the incident, but no one was injured.”
Brabant explained that the police are trying to determine whether any of the crimes are related or not, the motives are unclear, and no one has been arrested.
