The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has recalled the chickpea product that was sold in a popular grocery store in Montreal, and the affected items were also sold in stores throughout Quebec and Ontario.
A level three recall was issued on March 28, 2024, following CFIA test results in cooperation with Groupe Manufacturier Metro Inc.

The brand of chickpeas currently being recalled by CFIA was sold in Adonis grocery stores in Quebec and Ontario, and according to the Health Department, the chickpea product was removed from shelves due to the presence of yeast.

While the recalled chickpeas are being removed due to microbial contamination, it is "not harmful," meaning consumers are not at risk of illness if they accidentally consumed these chickpeas.
