The Canadian army said that a soldier is believed to have died after falling into an avalanche during his vacation in Switzerland.
A statement from the armed forces said that Captain Sean Thomas went missing while skiing on April 1.
Local authorities reported that three people died in an area outside the ski zone in Revelberg, above the resort and below the famous Matterhorn summit.
The army explained that Thomas joined the armed forces in 2018 and was deployed in Jordan last November as part of the Canadian training assistance team.
He was scheduled to return home next month.
There were no other Canadian armed forces personnel in the area at the time of the avalanche.
