Toronto Police announced a $50,000 reward for anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of Kamar Cunningham, wanted under a nationwide arrest warrant across Canada.
Toronto Police held a press conference yesterday, Tuesday, to inform citizens about the reward and the investigation.
The police also said in a press release that Cunningham was arrested as part of Project Patton in June 2018 for his involvement in a criminal organization smuggling firearms across the US border.
It is worth noting that on November 27, 2020, Cunningham from Toronto was convicted of several firearms smuggling charges, and on May 4, 2021, the man was sentenced in absentia to nine years in prison for failing to appear in court.
He was released on bail three times, and each time he violated his bail conditions before being arrested and released on bail again. The 39-year-old man is listed among the 25 most wanted criminals.
The police also mentioned that Cunningham has strong family and criminal ties to the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), and investigators believe he is somewhere within the Greater Toronto Area.
They added that he is likely using an alias and forged identity, and Cunningham, who was born in Jamaica, has strong connections to that country.
Cunningham is described as having brown eyes, black hair, and a tattoo on his right arm, and the reward of up to $50,000 is available until December 4, 2024.
Anyone who sees Cunningham or knows his whereabouts is requested to call 911 immediately.
The police said: Anyone who offers him assistance in evading arrest may be considered an accomplice and face charges.
