A 60-year-old woman was stabbed in Quebec City and is now fighting for her life in the hospital, and her son was arrested in connection with the stabbing incident.

The incident also occurred on Friday around 8 PM in the Saint-Sacrement area of Repentigny street.

The Quebec City Police (SPVQ) arrested a 27-year-old man at the scene, confirming that the attack took place in a "family context."

William Robitaille, SPVQ spokesperson, said: “During the night, major crime investigators and forensic identification technicians were present at the scene to try to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the assault.

The suspect remains in custody and is expected to appear in court on Saturday and may face attempted murder charges. The investigation being conducted by SPVQ is ongoing.
