The Canadian capital, Ottawa, is preparing for Victoria Day, which falls on Monday, May 19, 2025, with noticeable changes to service schedules and activities available for residents and visitors.

Stores and Services

Grocery Stores: Most major grocery stores will be closed on Monday, except for some locations like Farm Boy on Rideau Street, which will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Alcohol Stores: LCBO branches will close on Monday, while some selected branches of The Beer Store, such as those located at 1860 Bank St., 1984 Baseline Rd., and 548 Montreal Rd., will be open from 11 AM to 6 PM.

Pharmacies: Some branches of Shoppers Drug Mart and Rexall will remain open, and it is advisable to check the specific hours for each branch.

Public Transportation

OC Transpo: Train lines 1, 2, and 4 and buses will operate on a Sunday schedule. Line 1 will operate from 8 AM to 11 PM, while lines 2 and 4 will operate from 7:30 AM to 11:30 PM.

Para Transpo: Regular bookings will be canceled on Monday, with the booking service available for special trips.

Special Offers: Two passengers aged 10 or older can use a DayPass for $12 to travel all day.

Municipal Services and Facilities

Libraries and Museums: All branches of the Ottawa Public Library and the museums and theaters managed by the city will be closed on Monday.

Waste Collection: There will be no waste, recycling, or compost collection on Monday, and collection will be postponed to Tuesday, with a one-day delay for the rest of the week.

Waste Facilities: The Trail Waste Facility will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM.

Events and Activities

Canadian Tulip Festival: The festival continues to showcase performances throughout the city, with predictions of heavy rain over the weekend.

Victory Day Celebrations: Events will be held on Queen Elizabeth Driveway and Preston Street, including displays of vintage military vehicles and musical celebrations.
