Ottawa – The Ottawa Police announced charges of fraud against a former employee of the city's housing department, following investigations that uncovered their involvement in a bribery scheme related to social housing maintenance contracts.

According to the police, the employee is suspected of abusing their position to facilitate the awarding of maintenance contracts in exchange for receiving illegal payments from contractors. Several charges of fraud and breach of trust have been filed against the employee in question, along with charges against contractors believed to have participated in the scheme.

Authorities have confirmed that investigations are still ongoing, noting the possibility of additional charges as the case progresses. The Ottawa housing department also emphasized its commitment to fully cooperating with the investigations to ensure transparency and accountability.
