Large columns of black smoke can be seen from a distance on Hunt Club Road near Airport Parkway, while crews struggle to extinguish a fire at an auto repair shop in the area.

The fire broke out at the auto repair and maintenance shop located at 2600 Mac Street around 2:36 PM today, Tuesday.

Medics in Ottawa told local media that there were no injuries reported from the fire, and the crews have now returned after being on the scene for about two hours.

The fire ignited several live water wires, which fell, creating hazards for the crews, according to a post by Ottawa Fire on X.

The police also reported on X that they were on the scene responding to a second alarm at the building number 2600 on Mac Street.

Clarifying that the fire occurred in the auto repair and maintenance center, where several live water wires ignited and fell, creating hazards at the scene for firefighters. Large plumes of black smoke were visible in the area.

The exact causes of the fire have not yet been clarified, whether it was intentional or the result of an error and spontaneous electrical contact.

It is worth mentioning that arson is common to defraud insurance companies and receive large amounts for damages resulting from such fires, and two suspects were arrested and brought to trial last week after being accused of setting fire to the company’s headquarters and causing damages amounting to one million dollars.

It is noted that there are criminal groups residing in that area engaging in such criminal activities.

The matter remains in the hands of the police to investigate the causes of this fire.
