The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba are investigating the deaths of four people in Macriary on Friday, including three deaths being investigated as a triple homicide.

At around 10:10 AM, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police from Saint Rose du Lac responded to a report of a deceased man on Highway 84 West in the Macriary area. Upon arrival, officers found a 41-year-old man who had died from what appears to be a "self-inflicted injury."

Officers were then asked to conduct a welfare check on a 37-year-old woman. When they arrived at her home, she was not found.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police stated that officers went to a nearby home to search for the woman, and upon arrival, they discovered the bodies of a 66-year-old woman, a 65-year-old man, and a 35-year-old man in the residence. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police are investigating their deaths as homicides.

At 1 PM, the 37-year-old woman was found safe and transported to the hospital as a precaution, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Sergeant Richard Sharing from the Major Crimes Unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Manitoba said, "This is yet another absolute tragedy here today in Manitoba. Our hearts are with all those affected."

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police noted that all individuals involved in the incident are known to each other and that the incidents are connected.

Investigators are not looking for any other suspects.

The Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate, and more information is expected to be released next week.

In a post on X on Friday evening, Premier Wab Kinew stated that the news was devastating to hear.

The post read: "My thoughts are with the victims and everyone affected by this violence, including the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and first responders who were at the scene."

Kinew mentioned that he had spoken with Reeve Rick Sonnenberg, expressing the province's support for the community.

Macriary is located 250 kilometers northwest of Winnipeg.
