The regional spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Samuel Werberg, stated that his country is doing everything it can in coordination with Egypt and Qatar to end the ongoing war in Gaza.

He added during an interview with Cairo News Channel today, Tuesday, that the relationship between the United States and Israel did not start after October 7, but extends back 75 years (this was in the context of talking about U.S. support for Israel during the war).

He noted that the current focus should be on all efforts aimed at ending the war, clarifying that his country has proposed to bridge any gaps between the parties in a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.

He pointed out that this proposal is being emphasized, with ongoing consultations with Egypt and Qatar, given that Washington does not have direct communication with Hamas but has the capacity to pressure Israel to accept the proposal.

Earlier today, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his accompanying delegation, in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel Aati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Lieutenant General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence, in addition to Ambassador "Hero Mustafa Garij," the U.S. Ambassador in Cairo.

The official spokesperson for the presidency stated that the meeting emphasized the strength of the strategic partnership between the two countries and their commitment to advancing joint efforts to restore security and stability in the region.

In this context, the joint Egyptian-American-Qatari mediation efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza and to exchange detainees were reviewed, where opinions were exchanged regarding the outcomes of the last negotiation meeting that took place last week in Doha, and ways to move the situation forward and make progress in the ongoing negotiations in Cairo.

Blinken informed President Sisi in this context about the results of his visit to Israel, affirming the United States' commitment to de-escalation efforts and reaching an agreement, expressing great appreciation for Egypt's role and its constructive efforts in this regard.

The president stressed that the time has come to end the ongoing war, to heed the voice of reason and wisdom, and to elevate the language of peace and diplomacy, emphasizing the danger of the conflict expanding regionally in a way that makes its repercussions difficult to imagine, pointing out that preventing the bloodshed of peoples should be the main driving force for all parties, and that the ceasefire in Gaza should be the beginning of broader international recognition of the Palestinian state and the implementation of a two-state solution, as it is the essential guarantor of stability in the region.
