The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) said services have resumed after a partial system outage affected the country's largest airports on Tuesday.
The Canada Border Services Agency said Toronto Pearson Airport and Montreal Trudeau International Airport experienced customs delays.
The agency added to CTV News that travelers were being processed manually, but resources were provided to reduce wait times, although the extent of the outage was unclear.
Officials at Pearson Airport in Toronto said the inspection kiosks in Terminals 1 and 3 were affected, but they are now operating. Passengers may face longer than usual wait times at customs, according to the airport's post on X.
Diana Lisney, a traveler arriving from Dublin, Ireland, with her partner, said people were frustrated with waiting in extremely long lines.
She said in an email to CTV News from the airport: "A man behind me said he would never set foot in this cursed airport again."
Ottawa International Airport was not affected by the outage.
The airport told CTV News Ottawa in a statement via email: "CBSA agents are processing passengers, and everything seems to be going smoothly so far without delays."
Montreal Trudeau International Airport stated that it was not severely affected. However, delays were to be expected.
A spokesperson for the airport told CTV News Montreal: "Technicians are currently assessing, and an emergency plan has been implemented to allow for passenger processing, but it is clear that there will be longer delays than usual."
