The Ontario County Police are asking residents in the Tweed area to check their cars for missing items after a man was arrested with stolen property.
A man was arrested shortly after midnight last Tuesday in the Stoco Road area of Tweed. The police claimed to have found sunglasses, perfumes, cosmetics, and mobile phone chargers believed to have been stolen from cars in the area.
The Ontario County Police also claimed that one of their patrol cars was damaged during the arrest of the man.
A 41-year-old man from Belleville, Ontario, is facing charges of vandalism, nighttime trespassing, theft under $5000, and possession of property obtained by crime.
He remains in custody, awaiting his court appearance in Belleville.
Anyone who believes that items may have been stolen from their vehicles in the Tweed area over the weekend should contact the Hastings Central Detachment at 613-473-4234.
