Residents of Montreal are preparing for the coldest night in almost a month after a cold day in southwestern Quebec.
The maximum temperature during the day in Montreal on Tuesday reached -9 degrees Celsius, five degrees below average, making it the coldest day of the month so far, and the active westerly winds, reaching speeds of 40 km/h, made the weather feel closer to -17 or -18.
Temperatures in Montreal are expected to drop to -16 degrees Celsius on Tuesday night, three degrees below average.
The lowest level overnight will be the coldest night in February so far, and one of the coldest nights in winter, with the coldest night of the season so far recorded at -17.4 degrees Celsius on January 20.
From Wednesday, temperatures will be above the recorded average and even above freezing, and temperatures are also expected to remain above freezing on Thursday night.

The city will experience a mix of rain and snow over the weekend, followed by temperatures dropping again over the weekend.
