Warning: Between heavy rains and severe frost in Ontario and Quebec

Most areas of Ontario and Quebec were exposed to sudden freezing warnings today, Wednesday, including Ottawa and Montreal, with temperatures currently moderately dropping significantly below freezing starting today, resulting in icy travel conditions on roads and pathways.

Parts of northern Ontario and Quebec were also subject to winter storm warnings, with severe winds and snow exceeding 20 cm in some areas expected. Meanwhile, blizzard hours are in effect in some areas near Lake Simcoe and Lake Huron in Ontario.

Rain and wind warnings also covered a large part of Atlantic Canada on Wednesday.
Some areas of New Brunswick may experience up to 100 mm of rain from Wednesday until Thursday morning, along with destructive winds ranging from 70 to 80 km/h or higher.

Strong winds and heavy but lesser rainfall are also expected in Nova Scotia, while Prince Edward Island has been warned of strong southerly winds reaching speeds of 90 km/h.

Destructive wind speeds of up to 120 km/h are also expected in southwestern Newfoundland.

Moving westward, extreme cold warnings extend across parts of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and northern Ontario, where wind chill values may reach -45 until Wednesday morning.

In British Columbia, snow warnings have been issued for parts of the mid-coast and Fraser Valley, where snow accumulation of 20 cm or more is expected by Wednesday afternoon. East Vancouver Island has also been warned of rainfall, with expected precipitation reaching 50 mm from night until late Wednesday afternoon.
Yukon was the only region not subjected to a weather warning on Wednesday, while parts of Nunavut and the Northwest Territories were exposed to extreme cold warnings, with wind chill values reaching -55 on the morning of Wednesday.
