Canada is experiencing cold weather at the end of winter and the beginning of spring, with meteorologists predicting a cold wave accompanied by snowfall in several Canadian cities by the end of this week.

According to meteorologist Kelsey McEwen, the sharp cold front will lead to snowfall in Ontario along with winds, storms, and a drop in temperatures.

The Canadian Ministry of Environment has already issued warnings of a snowstorm for a large area of southern Ontario, and in some areas, up to 35 cm of snow may accumulate by tomorrow afternoon, Thursday.

The second low pressure system will move over Friday and the weekend, leading to measurable snowfall in major cities such as Toronto, Ottawa, and Montreal, followed by a mix of rain and snow in the Atlantic provinces of Canada.

A cold front is also expected to bring heavy snowfall today, Wednesday, to southern and central Alberta, and while most areas will receive between 10 to 15 cm of snow, up to 30 cm may fall in some locations by Friday morning, prompting the Canadian Environment to issue several snow warnings.

In the Atlantic provinces, rain, snow, and stormy winds are expected in some locations, leading to more Canadian Environment warnings. Parts of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia may face destructive winds reaching speeds of 100 km/h Thursday morning and afternoon, while the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland is expected to receive between 25 to 35 mm of rain between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. In Quebec, parts of the Gaspe Peninsula may receive between 15 to 20 cm of snow today, Wednesday.

Temperatures will also be very cold throughout central and northern Canada, currently reaching 15 degrees Celsius in Winnipeg, -16 in Saskatoon, and 30 below in Yellowknife. Conditions are expected to be warmer but rainy in Vancouver and surrounding areas, where temperatures may reach 12 degrees today, Wednesday.
