The Canadian Environmental Agency said that Montreal is experiencing its second warmest winter since weather data recording began in 1871.

Meteorology expert Gregory Yang pointed out that the average monthly temperature for December, January, and February was four degrees higher than the normal average.

On February 27, the temperature reached 14.9 degrees, a record for that date, and only the winter of 2001-2002 was warmer in Montreal.

Even the warm weather prompted Jenny, the black bear at the Écomuseum Zoo on Montreal Island, to come out of hibernation earlier than usual.

These large mammals are often stimulated due to the rising temperatures and the realization that spring is at the door.
