The Canadian Environment Agency issued a warning of snowfall in the city of Toronto and most of the Greater Toronto Area during a snowstorm that could lead to up to 15 cm of snow in some areas later today.
Explaining that "light snowfall is expected to begin this morning, but it is expected to intensify late in the afternoon or evening."
The warning stated: "Snow will subside from west to east late tonight."
It adds that the snow may have a "significant impact" on evening commutes in urban areas.
The snowfall warning extends from Hamilton in the west to Kingston and Gananoque in the east around Lake Ontario. It includes Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Oshawa, and other areas.
According to the Canadian Environment Department, snowfall rates could peak at 2 cm per hour, and the storm may reduce visibility.
The warning stated: "Be prepared to adjust your driving to changing road conditions."
Explaining that "if visibility decreases while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance."
Toronto is expected to reach a high of -1 degrees Celsius today, although it will feel like -12 in the morning and -5 in the afternoon with the wind.
