Public transport passengers in Montreal were shocked after an STM driver expelled all passengers from the bus when one of the passengers raised his voice at the driver because he missed a stop.

The video clip, taken by another passenger, shows the moment the STM driver stops the bus, gets off, and argues with one of the passengers.

The man then asked everyone to get off the bus, and the passengers appeared confused and upset.

Someone was also heard saying: “I am not moving... he must take us home.”

When they try to get an explanation, he tells them the reason is a passenger yelling at him.

He said in a video: I am just a bus driver.. I am being shouted at, I am a bus driver.. thank you.”

After that, they are forced to leave one by one, including an elderly passenger using a mobility device, then the driver leaves and abandons them on the side of the road to wait for another bus.

STM did not want to comment, but Simon Mathoura, one of the bus drivers union managers Syndicat, CA.OM.SC, did and spoke on behalf of more than 8,000 bus drivers in the province, telling the media that they are dealing with more aggressive passengers than ever before.

Mathoura also said the union is investigating the matter, but the video supports their call to establish a barrier between passengers
and drivers.

He added: “We asked STM for driver protection cabins for this exact reason.”
