A camera inside a house in the York area captured the terrifying moment when armed suspects broke into the house and held its residents hostage on Valentine's Day.
The York Regional Police said they were called to a house in the Charlotte Abby Drive area and road after Gwillimbury in eastern Holland Landing
shortly after midnight on February 14 as a result of a home invasion.
The police explained in a press release that a number of suspects armed with pistols broke into the house according to one of the residents, and the police said that one of the suspects struck one of the victims with a pistol while demanding money. The suspects took various valuables before fleeing in a light-colored car.
In a video captured by a camera inside the house, two people and a dog were seen watching before rushing away as two suspects wearing black clothes broke into the house. Both suspects appeared to be carrying weapons as they ran down the hallway toward the kitchen. One of them was then seen bringing one of the residents from the basement, holding him by the arm while apparently pointing a weapon at his back.
The male victim was treated for minor injuries by the York area paramedic services, and no other injuries were reported. The suspects are described as males wearing masks, dark clothing, and jackets.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the incident, including footage from the area at the time of the incident, to contact the police or call Crime Stoppers anonymously.
