French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his country's support for the comprehensive agreement proposed by the United States for a ceasefire in Gaza.

He stated in a post on his official page on the "X" platform today, Saturday, that his country is working with partners in the region to ensure peace and security for all, emphasizing that "the war in Gaza must end."

He called for "the release of hostages and a permanent ceasefire in Gaza to promote peace and move forward on the path to a two-state solution."

Yesterday, Friday, U.S. President Joe Biden announced a new proposal to stop the war in Gaza, which includes three phases.

Biden clarified that the first phase will last for six weeks and includes a comprehensive ceasefire and the withdrawal of the Israeli army from the main population centers in Gaza in exchange for the release of female hostages, the wounded, and the elderly held by Hamas, as well as hundreds of Palestinians from Israeli prisons, and the return of residents of the northern Gaza Strip to their areas.

He mentioned that Israel will negotiate with Hamas during the first phase to reach the second phase, which will see the permanent end of the war.

Biden added that the second phase of the proposal will witness the release of the remaining living hostages, while the Israeli army withdraws from Gaza, the ceasefire continues, and humanitarian aid is raised to 600 trucks daily.

As for the third phase, a comprehensive reconstruction plan for Gaza will be implemented.
