Toronto – Arab Canada News
Former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chrétien expressed confidence that the Liberal Party would achieve a majority of seats in the federal elections scheduled for Monday, amidst intensified efforts by leaders of major parties in critical ridings across the country.
During his appearance at a campaign rally in support of the current Liberal Party leader and Prime Minister Mark Carney, Chrétien stated that he is "very confident" that the Liberals will secure a comfortable majority, noting that Canada needs "reliable leadership" to face internal and external challenges, especially with rising trade tensions with the United States.
At the same time, Carney and Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, along with New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh, have intensified their election campaigns through extensive field visits to Ontario, Quebec, and British Columbia, where fierce competitions may determine the balance of power in the upcoming parliament.
Recent Nanos polls have shown the Liberal Party ahead by a margin of 3 to 5 percentage points over the Conservatives, bolstering expectations of a Liberal victory, but without a guaranteed outcome for a parliamentary majority.
The voter turnout rate and the process of deciding undecided voters remain critical factors in the final hours before the polls officially open on Monday, April 28.
