In his first television interview since winning the federal elections of 2025, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney confirmed that he has not held any talks with MPs from other parties about joining the Liberal Party to convert his government from a minority to a majority.
In a conversation with CTV's Chief Political Correspondent, Vassy Kapelos, Carney clearly stated that he is not seeking to attract MPs from other parties, emphasizing that the Liberal Party has a clear mandate from voters.
Carney pointed out that the Liberal Party received the highest number of votes in the elections, with majorities in seven out of ten provinces, giving it a strong mandate to implement its electoral program.
Regarding cooperation with other parties, Carney reaffirmed his commitment to work with all MPs, regardless of their party affiliations, to serve the interests of Canadians.
