In a controversial statement, Israeli far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich announced tangible progress in a plan aimed at deporting the residents of the Gaza Strip, in collaboration with the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump. This came during an interview with Israeli Channel 12, where he expressed hope for the operation to begin in the coming weeks, even if at a slow pace.

Smotrich explained that his team is working closely with the American team to finalize the plan, noting that there are two key elements to ensure its success:

1. Identifying countries willing to receive the displaced: Currently, communication is underway with several countries to explore the possibility of accepting the residents of Gaza who will be deported.

2. Addressing logistical challenges: Given the large number of targeted residents, there is a focus on creating precise logistical plans to ensure the operation proceeds smoothly.

For his part, U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Wietkoff, stated that President Trump’s proposal aims to protect the residents of Gaza from harm, emphasizing that the United States does not wish for these residents to return to unsafe areas.

In this context, Israel announced its intention to facilitate the "voluntary departure" of Gaza residents, aligning with President Trump’s proposal to control the territory. These plans have sparked widespread international and Arab reactions, as Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi confirmed that his country is preparing a comprehensive plan for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip without displacing the Palestinians, emphasizing the importance of residents staying in their land.

It is noteworthy that these developments come amid escalating tensions in the region and international discussions on the future of the Gaza Strip and its residents.
