The Israeli authorities announced today, Thursday, the arrest of Daniel K. Tub, a 26-year-old from the city of Petah Tikva, on charges of carrying out intelligence missions on behalf of Iran in exchange for financial rewards. According to a joint statement issued by the Israeli Security Agency (Shabak) and the police, Tub has been charged with communicating with a foreign agent, and an indictment is expected to be filed against him in the central court in the city of Lod.

Details of the tasked missions:

• Spraying graffiti slogans: Investigations revealed that Tub had been in contact with Iranian entities for several months, during which he sprayed anti-Israeli government slogans in the areas of Petah Tikva and Rosh HaAyin in exchange for financial payments.

• Photographing sensitive sites: Tub was asked to photograph the home of the head of the Shabak, Ronen Bar, in addition to Israeli military bases. He was also questioned about his knowledge of pilots in the Israeli Air Force, but he did not execute these tasks.

• Personal initiative: On his own initiative, Tub offered to photograph the home of a Knesset member and former Minister of Defense, Benny Gantz, but this task was ultimately not carried out.

Investigations and confessions:

Investigations showed that Tub was aware that he was communicating with Iranian entities, based on media reports and research he conducted online on the subject. It was also revealed that he received an amount of $7,000 for carrying out the tasks assigned to him.

Context of the arrests:

In recent months, Hebrew media reported that the Israeli police arrested about 30 settlers on suspicion of spying for Iran within secret cells. The Shabak indicated that among the objectives these cells sought to achieve were the assassination of Israeli nuclear scientists and former military officials, in addition to gathering information about military bases and defense systems.

These arrests come amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran, especially following a series of assassinations targeting prominent figures linked to Tehran, including leaders in Lebanese "Hezbollah" and the "Hamas" movement.
