The Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs announced that 32 Indonesian pilgrims have died in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as of today, Sunday.
The number of deaths has significantly increased compared to the count on May 24, which was 11 deaths.
Widi Dwinanda, an official at the ministry's Hajj media center, said in an online press conference followed by the Indonesian news agency (Antara) from Jakarta today, that the deceased pilgrims will receive Hajj allowances, as other individuals will be assigned to perform Hajj on behalf of the deceased pilgrims.
Dwinanda added that at least 154,410 Indonesian pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia. The pilgrims belong to 393 groups transported by airplanes.
During this year's Hajj season, Indonesia received permission to allow up to 241,000 pilgrims, following an agreement reached with the Saudi government on January 8.
