As Donald Trump spoke during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, the sound of gunshots was heard, and the former U.S. president placed his right hand on his right ear. The people in the stands behind him were in shock.

Footage showed Trump moving down behind the platform, and the sounds continued – clear gunshots – as Secret Service agents rushed to the stage.

The microphone picked up the sound of people screaming, “Get down, get down, get down,” as at least three agents gathered around him.

The sound of gunshots was clearly heard again several times while the agents were with him, and the crowd was shouting.

One voice was heard over the microphone asking, “Are we good?” as the Secret Service agents in tactical gear stood on the stage, some looking toward the crowd.

One voice was heard saying, “The shooter has fallen.” Then another voice said, “We’re clear” and “Let’s move.”

The agents stood around Trump. As they moved him away from the stage, Trump raised his right arm and clenched his fist in the air. Blood was seen on the right side of his face, and Trump raised his hand waving to the audience to confirm that he was okay.

For his part, U.S. President Joe Biden said he was informed about the shooting incident that occurred during a campaign rally for Donald Trump in Pennsylvania.

Biden confirmed in a statement that he is “grateful to hear that he is safe and in good health. I pray for him and his family and for everyone who was at the rally, and we await more information.”

Biden added, “I and Jill are grateful for the Secret Service for bringing him to safety. There is no place for this kind of violence in America. We must unite as one nation to condemn it.”

The spokesperson for the U.S. Secret Service confirmed that the presumed Republican candidate Trump is safe and that precautionary measures were taken around him after he apparently suffered a gunshot wound to his ear during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, and he was taken off the stage.

The Secret Service also confirmed in a post on "X" that this is now an active investigation by the Secret Service and more information will be released as it becomes available.

Trump's campaign stated in a statement that he is "fine" after being taken off the stage at a large rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, following what appeared to be gunshots within the crowd.

The campaign spokesperson Stephen Cheung said in a statement: “President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act. He is fine and being examined at a local medical facility; more details will be released.”

Law enforcement officials said the shooting incident at Donald Trump's rally in Pennsylvania is being investigated as an assassination attempt on the former U.S. president and the presumed Republican candidate.

Two officials spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss the ongoing investigation with the Associated Press, stating that the shooter was not among the attendees at the rally and was killed by U.S. Secret Service agents.

Butler County District Attorney Richard Goldinger confirmed during a phone interview that the suspect was killed and that at least one participant in the rally was killed and another seriously injured.

Senator Doug Burgum of North Dakota, Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, and Senator J.D. Vance of Ohio, all three on the shortlist for Donald Trump’s vice presidential candidate, expressed their concerns for the former president after his shooting.

Rubio shared a photo taken as Trump was escorted out from the stage with his fist in the air and blood on his face, with the caption "God bless President Trump."

Senator Chuck Schumer said in a statement: “I am horrified by what happened at Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, and I am relieved that former President Trump is safe. There is no place for political violence in our country.”

Democratic Senator Chris Murphy wrote on social media platform X: “We all must condemn what happened today, and I wish the best for the former president and everyone who attended the rally.”

House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries posted on X that “his thoughts and prayers are with former President Trump” and expressed gratitude for “the decisive response from law enforcement.”

Donald Trump Jr., Trump’s eldest son, posted on social media platform X, a photo of Trump raising his fist and his face smeared with blood in front of the American flag, with the message: “Never stop fighting for America.”

According to the "Times of Israel," the Republican Jewish Coalition condemned the “assassination attempt on President Donald Trump” as a “horrible act.”

The statement said, “There is absolutely no place for violence in our politics,” thanking the Secret Service, law enforcement, and medical personnel for their “swift response.”

The message concluded: “We pray for the full healing and health of President Trump,” adding that he “will return stronger and more determined.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wrote that he and his wife “were shocked by the blatant attack on President Donald Trump,” adding: “We pray for his safety and speedy recovery.”

Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir wrote, “God bless Trump,” adding a heart emoji.

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich tweeted: “A prayer from the Holy Land for President Trump.”
