Christie's auction house announced the sale of the painting Sweet by the artist Stagnant Elixir, created using a blend of artificial intelligence and magnetic resonance imaging, at a public auction at the Rockefeller Center in New York, from July 17-18 of this year, which is valued at $7,000-10,000, according to what was published by "news.artnet".

It is noted that after six years of success at Christie's selling the first artwork created by artificial intelligence at a public auction, the French collective Obvious returns to the auction house with its latest technological achievements currently.

The artwork stems from a new series by Obvious, titled "IMAGINE," which is a project from mind to image exploring how artificial intelligence can visually construct what is in our minds; in the new research lab, aggregated functional magnetic resonance imaging scans use machine learning to develop successful methods for recreating what people see and generating visual images based on their imagination.

This image carries the distinctive features of a form of surrealism - which the collective refers to as "new surrealism," defined as "transcending the limits of our consciousness." The image presents in the foreground earthy-toned landscapes made up of winding shapes and foreign plants, while in the background, there are pointed shadows under a yellow sky around which glowing clouds swirl. The effect is less earthly and more extraterrestrial.

The collective stated in a statement that this piece "embodies our vision... In addition to paving the way for the flourishing of surrealism, this work brings to life the new renaissance we are currently witnessing, and the endless possibilities brought by science and technology."

The auction record for Obvious remains the price achieved by Edmond de Belamy, from La Famille de Belamy (2018), the first AI-generated image to go to auction, which fetched $432,500 against a high estimate of $10,000 - an increase of about 4320%.
