A man and a woman were killed, and a man was arrested following a daytime shooting at two separate houses in Oshawa, Ontario.

Durham Regional Police said officers were called after reports of gunfire at a home in the Jane Ave and Glenforest St area, around 12:30 p.m. yesterday, Saturday.

The police explained that when officers arrived at the house, they found a 42-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds, then received information that led them to a second house on Glenforest St.

The police announced that officers found a 42-year-old woman shot dead inside the home.

At a press conference yesterday, Saturday, Sergeant Joanne Bortoluss stated that a 30-year-old man was taken into custody without incident at the second house.

Bortoluss reported that the motives behind this murder are currently unknown and are part of the ongoing investigation.

An ambulance was seen surrounded by police tape parked a few buildings away from the scene near a local school.

Durham Regional Police confirmed that the vehicle was used to transport the male victim who was shot to a location where an Ornge air ambulance landed.

The police stated that the goal was for an air ambulance to transport the victim to a hospital in Toronto, but he died before being airlifted.
