Former U.S. President Donald Trump said that Vice President Kamala Harris would be an easier opponent in the upcoming elections than current President Joe Biden.

Trump stated in U.S. media, in response to a question about Harris: "I think she could be simpler and easier than Biden in many ways, but we are not thinking much about anyone else until he goes."

Despite calls from many Democrats in Congress and party donors, Biden says he has no plans to withdraw from the presidential race.

Biden attempted to reassure voters on Friday that he is in good shape as he returned to the campaign trail amid growing pressure from Democrats to push him to step aside.

The 81-year-old Biden told his supporters during a dinner at a restaurant in Northville, Michigan, which he must win in November to defeat Donald Trump: "We have to finish the job. I assure you that I am doing fine," according to the French press agency.

Biden received support on Friday from Democratic Representative James Clyburn, who affirmed that Biden should continue his presidential run to win a second term.

Clyburn, who plays a prominent role in Congress, said on a program on NBC: "I completely support that. I’m going with Biden regardless of which direction he takes."

The 83-year-old Clyburn is highly respected among Black Americans, whose support is crucial for Biden's electoral campaign this year.

Clyburn has held positions in Congress for over 30 years and played a leading role in Biden's success in the 2020 presidential election.
