Identification of a young man found murdered in a hotel in Calgary

Calgary police revealed the name of a young man found dead inside a hotel in Calgary on Monday afternoon the day before yesterday, confirming that his death is considered a homicide.

Officers went to 8 Super in the 0-100 block of Shawville Road S.E. around 3 p.m., after a report of gunfire.

The victim was found shot and declared dead at the scene, and after autopsy, the police identified yesterday, Tuesday, that "Liban Abdirahman" the victim is Liban Abdirahman, 29 years old, and he is the fourth homicide victim in the city in 2024.

The police said in a press release: Investigators believe this was a targeted incident that occurred in the wing where the man was found and posed no danger to other hotel guests."

They added: “Our homicide unit is in the process of talking to witnesses, gathering information, and reviewing surveillance camera footage."

No one has been arrested, and the person detained at the scene was released without being charged.
