Family Day celebrations in the Greater Toronto Area: What's open and closed

The residents of the Greater Toronto Area are celebrating Family Day today, Monday, February 17, 2025. On this occasion, the operating hours of many facilities and services will change. Here is an overview of what is open and closed:

Tourist Attractions:

Some family destinations are welcoming visitors, including the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium, Casa Loma, the Hockey Hall of Fame, Toronto Zoo, and High Park. Riverdale Farm, Allen Gardens, and the Centennial Park Conservatory will also be open. The Royal Ontario Museum is open from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, and the Art Gallery of Ontario from 10:30 AM to 4 PM. The Distillery District welcomes visitors with store hours from noon to 5 PM.

Shopping Malls:

While most major shopping malls will be closed, some malls will remain open, such as Toronto Eaton Centre (10 AM - 7 PM), Toronto Premium Outlets (9:30 AM - 7 PM), Pacific Mall (11 AM - 8 PM), Vaughan Mills (11 AM - 7 PM), Bramalea City Centre (11 AM - 6 PM), and CF Markville (11 AM - 6 PM).

Grocery Stores:

Most major grocery store chains will be closed, but some locations will remain open, such as:

• Loblaws at 60 Carlton Street (7 AM - 10 PM)

• Metro at 444 Young Street (9 AM - 8 PM)

• Whole Foods at 87 Avenue Road (10 AM - 6 PM)

In addition to some branches of Walmart, Real Canadian Superstore, and Shoppers Drug Mart.

Liquor Stores:

All LCBO and The Beer Store branches will be closed, while some Wine Rack locations in Toronto will be open.

Transportation:

The TTC system will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule, starting around 6 AM. Adjustments will be made to GO Transit schedules due to weather forecasts, with some lines running every 30 minutes.

Waste and Recycling Collection:

There will be no waste or recycling collection today. Monday's collection will be postponed to Tuesday, and Tuesday's collection to Wednesday, while the collection on the remaining days will remain unchanged.

Government Services:

Most municipal offices will be closed, with emergency services continuing.

Residents are advised to check the specific hours of operation for facilities and services before visiting, to ensure an enjoyable Family Day experience.
