The announcement by U.S. President Donald Trump of increased tariffs on imports from Canada, Europe, China, and Mexico has led to a rise in calls for boycotts in these countries.

In Canada, the boycott began in February 2025 after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau encouraged citizens to buy local products and spend their vacations domestically. Lists of targeted American products spread on social media, and some provinces threatened to stop selling American alcoholic beverages. The American Travel Association predicted losses of about $2.1 billion due to Canadians canceling their trips to the United States.

In Europe, the Danish government established a group called "Boycott American Products", which attracted over 60,000 members to share advice on replacing American products with local alternatives. In Sweden, a similar group emerged on Facebook on February 19, 2025, gaining 55,000 users.

In France, there were calls to replace American products with local brands, such as substituting "Coca-Cola" with "Briz Cola", "McDonald's" with "Burger King", and "Starbucks" with "Columbus Coffee". There were also calls to boycott "Tesla", "Amazon", "Netflix", and social media platforms like "Instagram", "Facebook", and "WhatsApp".

The economic impact of these calls is still difficult to measure accurately, especially since some of the targeted American products are manufactured in Europe by local workers, creating additional economic challenges.
