A mistake in the classification of Canadian provincial parks on Google Maps has raised widespread questions among users, as many of these parks appeared under the term “State Park,” which is an American term not used in Canada, which relies on the classification of “Provincial Parks.”
Residents of British Columbia noticed this error, prompting them to question its causes and the possibility of correcting it. According to reports, it seems that the issue may stem from a technical error or inaccurate translation within Google's database, leading to the use of the American term instead of the Canadian one.
In this context, the Ministry of Environment in British Columbia confirmed that it is aware of this issue, noting that it is working to communicate with Google to correct the classification and ensure the use of the officially recognized names for the parks.
Provincial parks play an important role in preserving biodiversity and providing natural spaces for visitors, making the accuracy of their classification essential, especially for users who rely on Google Maps for planning their trips.
So far, Google has not issued an official statement regarding the error, but it is expected to be corrected in the near future after receiving feedback from users and the relevant official entities.
