Conservatives: Karney says the death of 50,000 Canadians is not a crisis

Ottawa, Ontario – February 13, 2025: The Conservatives criticize Carney in a statement received by Arab Canada News, which states:

After nine years of rule by the New Democratic Party and Liberal government, nearly 50,000 Canadians have died from opioid overdoses. Our once-safe cities and towns have been flooded with drugs, death, and chaos. Police are still discovering “massive labs” capable of producing enough fentanyl to kill all Canadians twice.

However, according to Mark Carney, this 200% increase in annual overdose deaths is not a crisis. Speaking at an event in Kelowna, British Columbia last night, Carney said:

“Fentanyl represents an absolute crisis in the United States. It is a challenge here, but a crisis there.”

Carney has never been as out of touch with the reality of Canadians as he is now. In Kelowna alone, the city has witnessed a massive rise in overdoses and the establishment of a huge homeless camp. Across British Columbia, 2,253 people died from overdoses in 2024, averaging more than six deaths a day.

This occurred after the radical New Democratic Party allied with the Liberals to legalize hard drugs throughout the province. They also eliminated mandatory penalties for drug dealers, even though fentanyl dealers are killing Canadians every day.

Under the New Democratic-Liberal government, the drug industry in Canada has expanded. Last November, Canadian police uncovered the largest and latest secret lab for producing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the country. Canadian-sourced fentanyl has even been discovered as far away as Australia.

But Carney has remained hidden from the media, refusing to clarify his position on the disastrous experiments carried out by the New Democratic-Liberal coalition government, which has spread misery across Canada. Therefore, it is no surprise that Carney has the support of Nathaniel Erskine-Smith, who boasted about eliminating mandatory prison sentences for hard drug producers.

The last thing Canadians need is another Liberal in the footsteps of Justin Trudeau, supporting the same destructive and extreme policies. Only the sensible Conservatives will stop the distribution of hard drugs with taxpayer funding, impose life sentences on fentanyl trade leaders, secure our borders, and invest in treatment and rehabilitation to get our loved ones free from drugs.
