Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau arrived in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv today, Monday, in a visit aimed at reconfirming his country's support for Ukraine, coinciding with the third anniversary of the start of Russian military operations in February 2022.

Trudeau was greeted by the head of the Ukrainian President's office, Andriy Yermak, where the Canadian Prime Minister expressed his happiness to be in Kyiv on this occasion.

The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and the President of the European Council Antonio Costa, along with a number of leaders from EU member states, also arrived in Kyiv, in a move reflecting European solidarity with Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict.

In the context of this visit, the President of the European Commission announced new financial aid for Ukraine amounting to 3.5 billion euros, scheduled to be disbursed next March, as part of the EU's efforts to support Kyiv economically and militarily.

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised the Ukrainian resistance, expressing gratitude for the ongoing international support.

In parallel with these developments, the European Union imposed the sixteenth package of sanctions on Russia, targeting vital sectors of the Russian economy, aiming to reduce its ability to finance military operations.

These moves come amid intense discussions among European leaders to enhance Western support for Ukraine, as the crisis witnesses shifts on both political and military fronts.
