Ottawa – Arab Canada News
A number of taxpayers in Canada have complained about the absence of some of their usual tax slips from their accounts on the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) website, raising concerns for some as the deadline for filing tax returns approaches.
In an official clarification, the CRA confirmed that the primary reason for this phenomenon is the delay of some employers or financial institutions in sending the required data to the agency, pointing out that the issue is not related to a technical problem in the CRA system.
The agency noted that Canadian tax law allows organizations until the end of February to send payroll slips and other financial data, but some entities may delay submitting that data to the CRA platform, resulting in a delay in its appearance in individuals' accounts on the website.
The CRA urged Canadians to directly check with their employers or financial institutions in case any expected tax document is missing, rather than just checking the agency's website.
It is worth mentioning that the deadline for individuals to file tax returns in Canada is April 30, while it extends to June 15 for self-employed individuals, noting that any owed taxes must be paid by the end of April to avoid interest and penalties.
