The Canadian postal strike means that postal workers in Canada have stopped working due to a dispute with the company they work for. The workers are demanding a salary increase, as they want a 24% raise over 4 years, while the company offered a lower increase of 11.5%.
Additionally, there are other issues related to working on holidays and job security, meaning that workers want their jobs to be more secure and not at risk of easy loss.
As a result of this strike, postal service has generally halted, meaning that people cannot receive letters or mail parcels as usual, except for government checks. This has affected many people, especially during the holiday season when they need to send and receive gifts and cards.
