Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita confirmed today, Tuesday in Rabat, that Morocco expresses its support and solidarity with the Palestinian people in this "critical and dangerous stage," and once again calls on the international community and the major powers to intervene to stop this aggression against the Palestinian people and their lands.
Mr. Bourita emphasized, during a joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, following the conclusion of the sixth session of the joint committee between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Sultanate of Oman, that the Kingdom of Morocco condemns and rejects, once again, these repeated Israeli aggressions on Jenin, and the casualties and destruction they caused, considering that these attacks on Palestinian territories do not contribute to creating an atmosphere conducive to opening dialogue and establishing peace in the region.
He added that the Kingdom considers the current situation "very dangerous," threatening the remaining hope for peace in the Middle East and fueling extremism and violence in the region.
In this context, he confirmed that the Palestinian cause remains a central issue, and that there is no peace in the Middle East without a just and final solution to this issue.
Mr. Bourita noted that there is international consensus that the solution to the Palestinian issue must be within the framework of the two-state solution; the state of Israel alongside a Palestinian independent state within the June 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
For his part, the Omani Foreign Minister stressed that "without finding a peaceful, just, and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue, the Middle East will not enjoy lasting stability and development."
He also alerted the international community and influential countries to the importance of respecting international laws to give everyone their due rights and restore the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, as stipulated by international laws, as well as the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council, embodied in the Arab Peace Initiative.
