The police in Hawkesbury charged a 16-year-old girl on November 28 after a stolen vehicle was stopped on Highway 417 near the Quebec border using a wheel stop device.
The police said in a press release that they attempted to stop the car at 5 AM, and when the driver refused to pull over, the police deployed a “tire deflation device” across the highway near “Mile Marker 3,” resulting in the car stopping.
The girl, whose identity cannot be revealed under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with the following:
• Possession of stolen property valued over 5000 Canadian dollars
• Vehicle theft
• Fleeing from a peace officer
• Driving a vehicle without a license
The girl has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in L'Orignal on December 12.
