The American Secretary of State confirmed that achieving peace in Ukraine requires European countries to make decisive decisions regarding the sanctions imposed on Russia, emphasizing that the European stance on these sanctions will be a crucial factor in determining the course of any future political settlement.

The minister explained, in press statements today, that the United States sees the continuation of sanctions imposed on Moscow as a key pressure point in the negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, but he noted that the European role in this context will be extremely important. He added that "any future peace agreement will require concessions from all parties, which means that European countries will have to reassess their position on the sanctions imposed on Russia."

He pointed out that Washington supports the unity of the European stance against Russia, but at the same time, it understands that the economic and political consequences of these sanctions present some European capitals with complex challenges. He stressed that "achieving lasting peace in Ukraine requires political courage from European leaders to make tough decisions, including reviewing the sanctions imposed on Russia in accordance with the requirements of the settlement."

The minister added that the United States is ready to support European diplomatic efforts, but it believes that the success of any peace negotiations is largely linked to the extent to which European countries are willing to deal with the Russian issue wisely and flexibly.

These statements come amid escalating international efforts to find a political solution to the conflict in Ukraine, amid ongoing field confrontations and geopolitical tensions between Moscow and Western countries.
