Travis Green is the new head coach of the Ottawa Senators.
Green will replace Jack Martin, who served as the interim coach since December when the team fired its coach D.J. Smith after a lackluster start to the season.
The team has signed Green to a four-year contract.
Senators members are expected to announce this officially at a press conference tomorrow.
Steve Staios, the president of hockey operations and general manager of the team, said, "After speaking with several highly qualified candidates, it became clear that Travis is the right person to lead our group."
"As we've routinely mentioned, developing a winning culture is crucial to our ambition for sustainable success. Travis has a strong desire to win, he is passionate about coaching and elevating his players to a very high level, and we are excited to welcome him and his family to the Ottawa-Gatineau community."
Green, 53, was the interim coach for the New Jersey Devils this season after previously serving as the head coach of the Vancouver Canucks from 2017 to 2021.
Green recorded a mark of 133-147-34 over 314 regular season contests with the Canucks.
The Senators finished their season in Ottawa with a record of 37-41-4.
Green played 14 seasons in the NHL with the New York Islanders, Anaheim Ducks, Phoenix Coyotes, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Boston Bruins.
