The Toronto Police announced an intensified search for three suspects after a man was shot dead inside a detached home in Etobicoke during what investigators described as a violent home invasion.

The incident occurred near Lake Shore Boulevard Long Branch Avenues West before 2:30 yesterday Thursday.

Speaking at a press conference yesterday afternoon, Police Sergeant Brandon Price stated that police believe the three suspects broke into a home in the area armed with a firearm.

Price also mentioned that the suspects entered the house at that time and demanded valuable items.

Price said that a struggle ensued, and a 30-year-old man was shot multiple times.

Police reported that the suspects, who were wearing ski masks and dark clothing, fled the area in a white or light-colored sedan.

Price stated, "We believe the incident was targeted because there were valuable items being sought."

He added that the victim did not reside in the home but was visiting at the time of the shooting.

Price also mentioned that the valuable items the suspects were looking for belonged to a friend of the victim who lived in the house.

Price did not clarify exactly what the suspects were searching for, but he confirmed that it was not a car.
