Toronto police announced the charging of a man from Toronto with seven armed robberies in the city.

The police said that between May 20 of last year and January 23 of this year, officers responded to theft calls at retail businesses in the areas of Finch Avenue, Yonge Street, Danforth, Victoria Park Avenue, and Kingston Road.

In each of the alleged robberies, the suspect, who was wearing a mask and armed with a knife at the time, left the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the police.

The police also revealed the identity of the suspect as Jason Keystendy, 54, a resident of Toronto.

The police stated that they located Keystendy on May 4 and found that he was already in custody on an unrelated matter.

He is facing seven charges of robbery with a weapon, seven charges of disguise with intent, and one charge of possession of property obtained by crime valued at more than $5000.

Keystendy was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court last Sunday for a bail hearing.

The police also ask anyone with information regarding any of the alleged robberies to contact investigators at 416-808-7350 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
